( The trip from Sunny's new home to Faraway had been long, but perhaps it was his nerves that made it seem so. The last time he had seen Kel and the others was back when he was in the hospital. What he had said back then was a far cry from healing what wounds had been caused all those years ago, but after remembering everything, he couldn't just leave without saying nothing.

It was Kel's idea for everyone to get together for Sunny's visit and meet at his place. Maybe he had thought it would be a bit less awkward for everyone this way, but it was a bit overwhelming for him. In the past, it would have been far moreso.

He's grown a little taller, and he looks more well-kept than he had all those years ago. A little less pale, and a little better at speaking -- but, he's still one to keep to himself. Despite the eyepatch covering his eye, he feels better than he had before his move.

He keeps quiet as Aubrey and Kel seem to bicker about something small, mind drifting as his mind started to tune them out. )

[It's been so long since Basil has seen Sunny, yet it feels like no time has really passed at all. Time apart had...perhaps been for the best for everyone, in this case, even if it left Basil once more feeling like the odd one out, albeit in a far more literal sense this time. It had taken time- a lot of it- to slowly reconnect with their friends after everything that had happened, but...these days, he felt closer to Aubrey, Kel, and Hero than he had in years (even if seeing Hero right now was typically done via phone over anything).

Having Sunny back home, after all of this time...it's a melancholy, yet exciting feeling. He isn't even that sure how to handle what he's feeling, which is maybe why he is the only one who has yet to say anything so far. It feels like old times just as much as it doesn't...and Basil would be lying if he said he didn't still feel guilt for what happened to Sunny.

It's only when Aubrey and Kel aren't focused on Sunny and instead arguing with one another that Basil finally hazards speaking up, looking over at Sunny with a slightly anxious smile.]

So, um...how have you liked your new town, Sunny?

( Basil isn't alone in his guilt, but Sunny feels it for another reason entirely. Similar to their other wounds, it was something that time would have to heal -- if that were possible. Being back in Faraway brought back memories, and so did seeing Basil. It brought him almost too much anxiety, but there was a warmth there all the same. He was glad to see him, but there was still so much that was left unsaid between them.

What an odd feeling... He didn't like it.

There's a quiet nod when Basil speaks. He likes it enough, but Sunny's never been the extroverted type. Making friends with others didn't come easily to him like it did for others in their friend group. )

It's different.

( He answers quietly. )

Things here feel different, too.

[That prompts a soft sound of acknowledgement from Basil as they make their way. It's no secret that not only would things feel different...they are different. The atmosphere of the entire town as a whole probably feels different, because now there's less of a weight overhead. It's like they've finally had the opportunity to heal they'd been denied for so many years, and it's a palpable thing.

Basil never realized how much that could mean until now.

So when Sunny simply says it's "different", he understands that could mean so much.]

Mmhm...it must be really different to you, after all this time. But...it's nice to be back, isn't it? It hasn't really felt the same without you.

( Is it nice...? It's nice to see his friends, but Faraway brings back so many memories for him -- memories that he's wanted to leave behind, but happy ones, too. For a moment, he looks away from Basil, dark-eyes focused at nothing in particular.

It hasn't been the same without you.

It wasn't the same without Basil, either. Their relationship hasn't been the same since... that day. He's carried so much guilt and fear of the other boy, but there's was a large part of him that missed what they used to have, too. )

... I don't know.

( His voice is more quiet than usual, but there's a light blush on his features, too. He wonders if Basil knows what he's thinking, as he did in the past. )
